When you are experiencing that you cannot move past the one-time code when signing documents through your Norwegian BankID on a mobile device, the reason and solution to the issue will be explained in the following guide.
It shall be mentioned that when a signer is unable to sign with their BankID (NO), it is not an issue related to Penneo. This is a known challenge that is caused due to the way that BankID is structured. So no matter which solution you are using for compliant digital document handling and signing, you will face this challenge.
Here is a thorough process explanation and guide that has helped customers that have faced this challenge when sending out documents to recipients that are not able to sign, so that the signer/recipient can contact their own bank to resolve the issue.
Electronic signing of documents with BankID requirers (besides SSN number / fødsels-/personnummer):
- One-time code from a code-chip
- Alternatively from a code card, in the bank's mobile app or as a one-time code via BankID mobile.
- Personal password
The one-time code is used to validate the user's identity while the password is used to sign.
BankID mobile or app for one-time code can therefore be used as a replacement to codeship - to receive the one-time code.
The personal password linked to the BankID that is used for signing will also be required, despite BankID mobile being used as a replacement for the code chip.

Usually, we experience two scenarios that can be the cause of the challenge
See “Choose another BankID”( "Velg annen BankID" ) link in the browser tab beneath and would like to choose another method to receive the one-time code. But once they get to the next “window/tab” they cannot remember their personal password. Share this guide.
Is not able to see the link where they can change the method for receiving their one-time code. In this case the recipient shall contact their own bank to receive assistance. Penneo has made the following text template that we recommend that you ask the signer to send to their bank (please note that this is in Norwegian):
